My blog du jour is about motivation. Where can I buy some? Seriously - I would love nothing more than to lose a good 60-65 pounds, but there are a few reasons I can't:
1. I hate exercising (let me rephrase this...I don't like it until I start doing it on a regular basis, but due to a lack of motivation, I can't even get started)
2. I love food. Almost all food. It is all so very tasty and when it's around, I just can't help myself. I know it's a matter of willpower, but I have none. Maybe I could buy some of that too?
3. Fear of failure. I think this is self-explanatory.
4. Lack of motivation. I know that looking better, feeling better, fitting smaller clothes - those are all motivators - but for some reason, I just can't bring myself to change. Change my eating habits, change my attitude towards exercise, etc.
Having said all of that, I'd like you, my peers/friends/readers to respond and tell me how to go about this. Maybe you've had a goal in mind - not even weight related - that you were looking to get to, and were able to do it. Tell me how you did it, where your motivation came from, how you achieved your goal. I know that I will need help in this!!!
Thanks everyone...... I look forward to your responses!
I've always been quite indifferent when it comes down to exercise. I mean, I do try to get some in every day, but yes, some days it's more difficult to find the motivation. My problem is completely forgetting to exercise...days in a row..
ReplyDeleteTo help, I try to think of my health on a day-by-day basis rather than striving for a goal(this way there's no added shame in failure as well). Eventually, exercise makes its way into my day as part of a routine, rather than seeming like a chore. To make it seem even less like a chore, while incorporating this state of mind, including something of a reward to myself, or intervals of doing something I enjoy more than exercising (i.e., playing guitar, a round of video games) in between seems to help.
How about this....get of your butt and just do it. Stop making excuses and just do it. Like you said once you start doing you don't mind it and I think you do very well you have lost weight before so do it again. You don't have to do a complete diet and eat like a rabbit but just eat the crappy food in moderation. If you want I'll come and kick you in the neck to get you going. Love you :o)
ReplyDeleteYou just described 85% of people, and we're all in it with you. Why don't you try going to the gym with a friend, I know that would work for me.. i can't do anything liek that with out some friendly support, and i also feel like i am supporting them too.
ReplyDeleteAll I reed is blah, blah, blah. When u r ready u will do it. Nobody wil be able to help you but yourself. Ultimateley your Dr. will tell u that you either exrecise and eat proparly or u will have to deal with seriouse health isues. You will make the correct decision when u are ready
ReplyDeleteI hope u enjoyed my thots and speling.
Curves has a 30day for $30 thing right now, after a month, if you want to stick with it its $49/month. Its not lifting and crap. I was in it before and I'm probably going to do the 30/$30. It helped me before. And id like to lose 20-30 pounds myself. But like you its the lack of motivation! Lately I've been so tired and don't wanna do anything. 30 minutes a workout, a few times a week, sounds like a good plan to me! Plus it gives you a little "me" time! 2 kids and a baby .. I know you would like summa that!
